Diamond Jubilee waste collection changes
June 1, 2012Special arrangements have been made by Somerset Waste Partnership (SWP) for recycling and refuse collections during the week of the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee with its two days of holiday.
Collections of recycling and refuse, including collections of garden and clinical waste, will be made as usual on Bank Holiday Monday 4 June. Residents should put out containers by 7am.
There will be no collections on Tuesday 5 June. All recycling and refuse collections for the rest of that week will be one day later, including Friday’s pick-ups taking place on Saturday 9 June.
A SWP spokesperson said: “Collections on a Bank Holiday Monday are a bit unusual, but this should be the best way of maintaining collections around the special double bank holiday.
“This will also mean no collection vehicles out on the Tuesday Jubilee Bank Holiday, when many people may be holding street parties.
Most homes with Monday services have been reminded by notices left on refuse bins to put out their containers for collection on Monday 4 June.
Recycling site timetables are unchanged in that week.
