Bulky waste collections
A service, with a fee charged, is offered to collect large or bulky items from homes in Somerset, but there are also free alternatives you may be able to use.
If you have good quality furniture or an appliance suitable for reuse, see furniture reuse for details of how to donate items to local reuse groups, who may be able to collect these items from you.
Large or bulky items can also be taken to recycling sites.
Otherwise, you can request a bulky waste collection for items that are too large for you to manage or be taken with your refuse and recycling collections. There is a charge for this service and payment is required for each collection.
However, if it is an unusual item, like an old fuel tank, then we may not be able to collect it. Please contact us so we can advise you on the most suitable option, which will save you the inconvenience of arranging for a collection only to be told by the crew that your item cannot be taken.
Bulky waste charges from 1 April 2017:
|District||Up to 3 items||Subsequent items each*|
* There is a maximum number of 5 items per collection.
If you wish to arrange a bulky waste collection, please contact your local council customer services.
