All materials taken at 16 recycling sites

All materials are now being taken at Somerset’s 16 recycling sites, although “shop-style” safety restrictions remain. Expect long delays; only visit if really necessary.

Materials taken include those with charges (tyres, gas bottles, soil and hardcore, vehicle parts), and those requiring advance online payment (asbestos, plasterboard).

For now, please store, sell or give away items intended for reuse as these cannot be taken until they can be handled safely, and they will go for recycling or to landfill.

All sites are open on their usual summer hours. They are busiest first thing in the morning and quieter between 4pm and 6pm.

Visitors must take responsibility to keep themselves and others safe. No odd-even number plate days, or vehicle timing rules but safety restrictions remain, including:
* Floor markings and other signs to help maintain social distancing
* Site staff cannot offer manual assistance with heavy items
* Maximum two people per household; wear gloves outside vehicles
* No people with COVID-19 symptoms, or those asked to shield
* Permits continue – https://www.somersetwaste.gov.uk/apply-for-a-permit/ – no twin-axle trailers, no vans or pick-ups etc over 3.5 tonnes, at any time
