Recycling collections – Due to Covid-19, kerbside teams are short staffed, severely impacting their ability to complete collections. We have made the difficult decision to concentrate staff on essential services only. This means that we cannot return for any missed recycling collections. We will prioritise your collection on your next scheduled day.

Bulky waste collections

UPDATE: Bulky waste collections suspended until further notice. All booked customers will be contacted short about refunds. We hope you accept our apologies and appreciate the difficult circumstances we are working in. Thank you for your patience and understanding.

We offer a charged for service, to collect large or bulky items such as furniture or domestic appliances from homes in Somerset.

Apply online

If you have good quality furniture or an appliance suitable for reuse, see our “reuse – pass it on” information for details of how to donate items to local reuse groups, who may be able to collect these items from you.

Large or bulky items can also be taken to recycling sites.

Otherwise, you can request a bulky waste collection, from your local council customer services, for items that are too large for you to manage or be taken with your refuse and recycling collections. There is a charge for this service and payment is required for each collection.  Large or bulky items will only be collected if two people are able to lift them.

However, if it is an unusual item, like an old fuel tank, we may not be able to collect it. To avoid confusion, please contact your local council customer services so we can advise you on the most suitable option, which will save you the inconvenience of arranging for a collection only to be told by the crew that your item cannot be taken.
