Chard Recycling Centre three-day maintenance closure Nick Cater October 12, 2020October 18, 2020 Latest News 12 October 2020 – Maintenance work at Chard Recycling Centre will see it operate with reduced capacity for two days and then be closed for three days. Fewer vehicles will be able to use part of the unloading area on Monday 19 and Tuesday 20 October, when the site will be open 9am-5pm. And, as well as its usual weekly one-day closure on Wednesday 21 October, the recycling site will not be open on Thursday and Friday 22-23 October. While Chard is closed, the nearest open alternatives are Taunton and Yeovil recycling sites. Chard Recycling Centre will reopen with full capacity at 9am on Saturday 24 October. Chard is one of Somerset’s most modern and busy sites, with almost 116, 000 visits a year, receiving close to 6,000 tonnes of waste, with 85% going for recycling. A Somerset Waste Partnership spokesman apologised for any inconvenience due to the work but added that the maintenance was essential for an efficient site.
