Keep Me! Key Recycle More leaflet coming soon Mark Ford October 7, 2021October 7, 2021 Latest News Wednesday 5 October – Vital information about Recycle More will hit doormats across Taunton Deane next week. Somerset Waste Partnership (SWP) is urging residents hold on to their “Coming soon” leaflet which contains must-know information about the expanded recycling service being introduced at the start of November. The striking orange and blue leaflets should be delivered in the week beginning 11 October. Each has a collection day calendar specific to that address, showing when recycling and rubbish will be collected for the next 12 months. More than a half of homes will have a change in collection day. The leaflet gives residents their first Recycle More collection date – the first time they should put out new materials and use the new Bright Blue Bag recycling container. What needs to go into each container changes with Recycle More, so the leaflet includes a simple, colour-coded ‘What goes where?’ diagram. Some people will also have a one-off, extra rubbish collection before Recycle More starts. This will be made clear in the calendar where it applies. Whether you stick it on the fridge or pin it to a notice board, it is important to keep the leaflet somewhere safe for future reference. Recycle More adds the following items to weekly recycling collections: plastic pots, tubs and trays; food and drink cartons; small batteries; small electrical items. With more being recycled, rubbish will be collected every three weeks instead of every two. An extra recycling container – a Bright Blue Bag – will be delivered to all households in the two weeks leading up to launch. At the same time, recycling boxes will be stickered explaining what needs to go in them under the new service. Until the new service starts, everyone should continue recycling as they do now. Anyone with questions or concerns about Recycle More can find more information online somersetwaste.gov.uk/recycle-more. Extra support is available. Please make contact using an online form – see popular tasks on the Somerset West and Taunton homepage www.somersetwestandtaunton.gov.uk or call the district council on 0300 3048000. Recycle More is already delivering more than 100 extra tonnes of recycling a week in both Mendip and South Somerset. The latest phase covers the Taunton Deane geographical area, including Taunton, Wellington and Wiveliscombe.
