M5 crash traffic delays mean catch-up collections

M5 crash traffic delays mean catch-up collections

Following Thursday’s fatal M5 crash and the consequent traffic delays affecting waste vehicles, catch-up collections are now underway in parts of Sedgemoor, South Somerset and Taunton Deane.

It looks very likely that this will have a knock-on effect, with missed collections in a few areas today requiring catch-up pick-ups on Saturday.

Please sort and segregate materials without using carrier bags, rinse all containers, squash all but glass and aerosols, stack recycle boxes with the food waste bin on top, and leave leave containers out late so crews can complete rounds.

Many thanks for your help and patience, and our apologies if you were missed yesterday or are missed today. Our thoughts remain with those affected by the road accident.

If you prefer not to wait for a collection, and have the time and transport, check here to see which recycling sites are open (most today; all 16 8am-4pm Saturdays): https://www.somersetwaste.gov.uk/recycling/centres/
